2025 is a special year for our field, marking 100 years of Quantum Mechanics. Let's celebrate this important date in Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul, from November 10 to 13, 2025. That's why the city's entrance gate, a barrel representing the region's wine production, appears in our logo with the probability densities for the particle in the box.
Additionally, in 2024, we celebrate 100 years of the Lennard-Jones potential. Thus, to celebrate all these "anniversaries," our event will feature a broad program divided into axes that cover different themes in our field: from the development of methods and algorithms to molecular properties and spectroscopy, reactivity (mechanisms and catalysis), biological systems and medicinal chemistry. Methods based on quantum, classical, hybrid, and machine learning mechanics will be explored in the axes of the most diverse applications.
The program includes plenary lectures, invited lectures, oral communications, and posters by Brazilian researchers and foreign guests. This is an opportunity to create collaborations and share experiences. In this sense, we will also have space for scientific dissemination and interaction with the local community (and visitors) to promote theoretical and computational chemistry, mainly aiming to demystify quantum mechanics. For those already in the area, we will have a round table to discuss the fields of activity of theoretical-computational chemists, including those outside academia.

The 2025 Brazilian Symposium on Theoretical Chemistry (SBQT) will take place in November in Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul. This event is essential for the scientific community, bringing together researchers and students to discuss advances in Theoretical Chemistry. Bento Gonçalves, known for its wine production and Italian cultural heritage, offers a unique setting that combines science and tourism. Holding the SBQT in the city promotes local development and expands the exchange of knowledge, making the event memorable for its scientific content and the region's hospitality.
Bento Gonçalves is in the Serra Gaúcha, just over 120 kilometers from Porto Alegre, practically the same distance as Gramado and Canela, and about 50 kilometers from Caxias do Sul. For those from other states, the easiest way to get to Bento Gonçalves is by flying to Caxias do Sul Airport or Porto Alegre Airport. The event will be held at the Dall’Onder Grande Hotel, located on one of the city's main avenues and 1.5 km from the city center.
